Pāpāmoa has six primary schools catering for children in Years 1 to 6 (ages 5–11). All are co-educational. Most are zoned, meaning enrolment priority is given to families within the school’s zone boundary.
Pāpāmoa Primary is one of the suburb’s longest-established schools. It accommodates a bilingual education stream - Te Manawanui - which has grown to four classes since its establishment in 2021. The school serves a significant roll with strong community links across the western end of Pāpāmoa.
Golden Sands School opened in 2011 as a purpose-built contemporary learning environment with flexible spaces and collaborative teaching. Learning Communities within the school are named after notable New Zealanders - Cooper, Batten, Sheppard, Mahy and Rutherford - alongside Te Rito, a bilingual community. The school has been progressively extended to accommodate significant roll growth since opening.
Te Ākau ki Pāpāmoa School opened in 2000 and originally catered for Years 1 to 8. When Pāpāmoa College opened it transitioned to a Year 1 to 6 school. Approximately 32% of learners identify as Māori and the school maintains three reo rua akomanga providing bilingual education. The school’s vision centres on students being strong in their identities, languages and cultures.
Tahatai Coast School was established in 1996 and serves families across a broad zone in the central Pāpāmoa corridor. With a roll of approximately 748 it is one of the highest-roll primary schools in the network. The school has built strong programmes in sport, the arts and literacy alongside its core curriculum.
Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa is the newest state primary in Pāpāmoa, opening in 2022 to serve the rapidly growing Pāpāmoa East and Te Tumu development areas. Its zone was specifically designed to relieve pressure on neighbouring schools. Learners are referred to as kaimanawa and the school has a strong focus on community connections. Uniform is compulsory.
Suzanne Aubert Catholic School opened in February 2021 as Pāpāmoa’s first Catholic school, catering for the growing Catholic community in the suburb. It is a state-integrated school - government funded but Catholic owned. Named after Mary Aubert (1835–1926), founder of the Sisters of Compassion, the only homegrown religious order in Aotearoa New Zealand. Preference enrolment applies to Catholic families; out-of-parish enrolments may be accepted where space permits.
Te Kura Kōkiri is a kura kaupapa Māori - a full primary school where students learn exclusively through te reo Māori. It operates under the principles of kura kaupapa Māori, centring tikanga Māori and te ao Māori in all aspects of teaching and school life. With a roll of approximately 275, it serves whānau seeking full Māori immersion education for their tamariki. Entry is open to all children whose whānau commit to supporting the kura kaupapa principles.
Pāpāmoa College is the suburb’s sole secondary school, opened in 2009. It caters for Years 7 to 13, taking junior students directly from Pāpāmoa’s primary schools through to NCEA Level 3 and University Entrance. With 1,775 students as of October 2025, it has a broad curriculum including Te Pākura (a bilingual Māori learning pathway) and Learning Through Sport classes. The school is BYOD and uses a compulsory uniform available from its shop at 60 Parton Road.
Note: New Zealand schools transitioned from the decile system to the Equity Index (EQI) from 2024. An EQI of 458 places Pāpāmoa College among schools with average socioeconomic barriers to achievement, broadly equivalent to decile 5–6 under the former system.
